Background
The Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) and its associated Geographically Separated Units (GSUs) require the acquisition of iso-phase Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) to fulfill mission requirements.

Market research has confirmed that Siemens is the only vendor capable of providing the required switchgear with an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warranty, which is essential for investment protection.

Work Details
The contract involves the design, supply, installation, and checkout of Siemens brand name only (BNO) iso-phase GIS switchgear. Key specifications include:
- The switchgear must be segregated into three separate housings for each phase (A, B, and C), eliminating phase-to-phase faults and reducing arc flash risks.
- Must include a valid OEM warranty to ensure protection throughout its warranty period.
- Equipped with a single phase-to-ground fault and resistance grounded to limit ground current to 400A or less.
- Operate in aggressive ambient conditions (-25C to +55C), including saline air and high humidity.
- Must remain reliable in case of loss of SF6 gas.
- Bus configurations must support single and double busbar operations with capabilities for motor applications.
- The vacuum circuit breaker should have a maintenance-free operating cycle capacity of 10,000 cycles.
- Features such as real-time visible disconnects and no internal maintenance requirements are necessary to enhance safety.
