Background
The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) is part of the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI) within the NIH Office of the Director (OD). ORIP plays a central role in biomedical discovery by providing shared instrumentation and critical infrastructure to develop, advance, maintain, and distribute a wide array of research models and related resources.

The Division of Comparative Medicine (DCM) aims to distribute, maintain, and archive high-quality, well-characterized models for biomedical research. DCM supports rigorous and transparent research across various NIH grant programs by implementing a citation system that enables users to authenticate research models through persistent unique identifiers.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Maintain and further develop research resource identifiers (RRIDs) to promote identification, discovery, and reuse of research resources. This includes improving search capabilities based on ontological models for genotypes and phenotypes.

2. Conduct analyses to identify gaps in model resources and knowledge related to human genes and pathological processes.

3. Develop methods to assess the value and impact of ORIP-supported model resources, aiding in portfolio analysis for NIH ICOs.

4. Collaborate with federal staff and stakeholders to ensure effective execution of tasks including maintenance of existing databases, outreach to resource centers, verification of data integrity, and preparation of comprehensive reports for federal policy decisions.

Place of Performance
The work will primarily take place at locations designated by the NIH or as specified in task orders.
