Background
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is seeking to acquire a Stopped Flow System and associated components to support the Nucleolar Integrity Group's research on RNA processing pathways. This acquisition aims to enhance the group's capability to characterize rapid molecular events critical for understanding ribosome assembly, tRNA processing, and viral RNA processing, which are essential for advancing knowledge in human health and disease.

Work Details
The contract requires the provision of a high-sensitivity Stopped Flow System instrument capable of monitoring rapid biochemical reactions in real time. Key specifications include:
- Ability to measure real-time kinetics of RNA degradation and processing reactions.
- Characterization of multi-protein and RNA-protein complex formation.
- Resolution of rapid intermediate steps in ribosome assembly.
- Measurement of substrate and product binding kinetics.
- High sensitivity for fluorescence measurements alongside absorbance measurements without system reconfiguration.
- Precise temperature control from -20°C to 85°C for consistent experimental conditions.
- Rapid mixing and detection capabilities with valid measurements at reaction times as early as 0.2 milliseconds.
- Installation, training on operation, data analysis software, and necessary accessories for routine use are also required.
