Background
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is hosting the Transit Innovation Showcase in December 2026 to advance modernization and elevate rider confidence across the nation's transit networks. This event aims to transform the U.S. Department of Transportation Headquarters into a high-tech experience that showcases innovative breakthroughs and technological advancements in public transportation, focusing on family-friendly systems.

Work Details
The Transit Innovation Showcase will feature hands-on interactive demonstrations, full-scale vehicle mockups, and live simulators that highlight cutting-edge solutions for public transportation. The event seeks to build public awareness of next-generation transit solutions by engaging leaders from State and local transit authorities, Congress members, infrastructure stakeholders, advocacy groups, commuter associations, and media representatives.

FTA invites transportation agencies, transit associations, vendors, manufacturers, and technology companies to submit Statements of Interest for showcasing innovative public transit programs. Demonstrations should focus on improving safety and security, cleanliness, universal accessibility, real-time service data availability, and system reliability. Topics for exhibits may include fare enforcement systems, fare collection systems, bus operator security barriers, station platform barrier technologies, innovative vehicle features (such as automation), training simulators, threat detection systems, accessibility technologies, trip planning tools, and cleanliness monitoring technologies.

The showcase is scheduled for December 2026.

Bidder Requirements
Interested parties must submit a Statement of Interest including an organization profile with contact information; a technical description of the proposed demonstration; details about user experience; deployment status of the technology; logistical requirements; public engagement strategies; and how the demonstration aligns with DOT's mission. All demonstrations must meet DOT security requirements.
