Description

Travis AFB is sourcing the industry for a non-personnal services contract to support David Grant Medical Center's (DGMC) Radiation Oncology Department. The Government shall not exercise any supervision or control over the contract service providers performing these services herein. Such contract service providers shall be accountable solely to the Contractor who in turn is responsible to the Government. The Contractor shall provide on-site Radiation Oncology specific support services to include Therapeutic Medical Physics and Certified Medical Dosimetry. The Contractor shall possess the skills, knowledge, abilities, and training to satisfactorily perform the service requirements included in this PWS. Contractor performing work in support of services shall be fully trained in all aspects of the work to be performed. Private sector personnel performing work under this PWS shall remain employees of the Contractor and shall not be considered employees of the government. See PWS for more details.

Background

Such contract service providers shall be accountable solely to the Contractor who in turn is responsible to the Government. The Contractor shall provide on-site Radiation Oncology specific support services to include Therapeutic Medical Physics and Certified Medical Dosimetry. The Contractor shall possess the skills, knowledge, abilities, and training to satisfactorily perform the service requirements included in this PWS. Private sector personnel performing work under this PWS shall remain employees of the Contractor and shall not be considered employees of the government.

Work Details
The Contractor shall accomplish tasks including managing the Radiation Therapy Service Equipment Quality Control Program, overseeing technician quality control testing of radiation producing equipment, performing physics quality control testing, calibration, and equipment evaluation on equipment used for radiation therapy purposes, coordinating maintenance of treatment device, dosimetry, and radiation therapy imaging equipment, providing expert guidance for procurement of new technologies related to treatment and quality assurance equipment, serving as Authorized Radiation Safety Officer for Radiation Oncology, supporting and managing multiple computer systems, developing and overseeing quality control testing, entering therapy and radioisotope data, certifying computer output against measurements for treatment planning system, beam-scanning system, and computers interfaced with linear accelerator, consulting on patient simulation and treatment, performing treatment chart checks, validating treatment plans, providing LDR and HDR brachytherapy support, participating in system upgrades coordination and timing with vendor expert personnel, entering pertinent patient billing and workload information into DHA and VA electronic medical records as instructed by the Chief Radiation Oncologist (RO), providing all necessary dosimetry support for the aid of treatment with the Radiation Oncologist, maintaining licenses and certifications to legally provide cell saver services at DGMC as per primary physicians' orders, verifying treatment parameters and providing treatment plan to the responsible RO for approval before implementation, coordinating technical activities of therapists regarding new or difficult procedures.
