Background
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) has developed specifications for sophisticated stereo-camera systems. The AFSC scientists in the Midwater Assessment and Conservation Engineering (MACE) program have developed a generalizable operating system for stereo cameras, including custom software and hardware components, that would meet the needs of most underwater applications within NOAA Fisheries. The development will be made available to the open public through a computer code and hardware design sharing platform, such as GitHub. AFSC is seeking a vendor that can develop systems based on existing MACE software and manufacture cameras.

Work Details
The contractor shall design a final camera product directly incorporating the software and hardware approaches made publicly available from MACE or devise a similar system that results in the same standard image formats, file structure, and camera calibration requirements. The contractor shall build a set of eight camera units with specific capabilities for shallow water and deep water use, battery operated and capable of autonomous data collection. Additionally, the contractor shall build 4 external battery housings with specific depth ratings and battery capacity. The contractor shall also design and build a high-intensity LED underwater light capable of strobed operation and continuous lighting. The camera enclosure size should not exceed 18 X 32 X 15 cm.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC).
