Description

Requirements for a 6-month continuation of products/services for the NIH Software Development, Operation, Maintenance, and Cloud Computing to Support Health Care Standards, Terminologies, and Customer Experiences for the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) Office of Computer and Communications Systems (OCCS).

Background
The National Library of Medicine (NLM), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has been a center of information innovation since 1836.

The Office of Computer and Communications Systems (OCCS) operates the NLM Data Center and supports various divisions within the Library. OCCS is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and managing automated systems for information collection and dissemination, particularly in medical terminologies and data standards.

The NLM aims to enhance biomedical discovery and improve healthcare through better data accessibility and interoperability.

Work Details
The contract involves acquiring complex Information Technology (IT) services to support OCCS in software development, programming, maintenance, system administration, application security, network security, and subject matter expertise.

Specific tasks include:
1) Designing and managing automated systems for information processing;
2) Managing the NLM Data Center and transitioning to cloud solutions;
3) Securing internet connectivity;
4) Providing operational support for electronic information technology across NLM;
5) Supporting application development and medical vocabularies control processing;
6) Ensuring compliance with FAIR principles for biomedical data.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a six-month period from September 20, 2024, to March 19, 2025.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the National Library of Medicine located at 8600 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD.
