Background
The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southwest (NAVFAC SW) is issuing a justification for a sole-source contract to the San Diego Archaeological Center (SDAC) for professional collections management and long-term curatorial services. This action is being taken under the authority that allows for contracts to be awarded when only one responsible source can meet the agency's requirements.

The contract aims to ensure compliance with federal standards for archaeological collections management, particularly in relation to Navy and Marine Corps installations.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive curation services, which include:
1. Furnishing all necessary security, labor, storage, management, supervision, tools, materials, and equipment for archaeological collections and associated records from various Navy and Marine Corps installations.
2. Maintaining archaeological collections in accordance with federal standards as outlined in 36 CFR Part 79 and 43 CFR Part 10 (NAGPRA).
3. Providing long-term storage and maintenance for these collections that meets federal standards.
4. Conducting all work at the contractor's facility located in San Diego County, California.
5. The contract value is estimated at $1.5 million over five years based on historical costs associated with curation services provided over the past decade.
