Description

A Shipboard Automated Maintenance Management System (SAMM) is used for the overarching sustainment and operation of the MSC fleet. SAMM consists of both shipboard and ashore maintenance systems with various modules and functions that work together to optimize MSC's maintenance program.

SAMM is required for shipboard personnel to document maintenance performed on MSC vessels and record daily machinery operational data. The system also provides a consistent maintenance plan for the MSC fleet. The Logistics and Engineering System (LES) shore side maintenance systems are required to support the shipboard systems and streamline shore-side engineering functions. The PENG system, a component of SAMM, provides Port Engineers a tool to manage contracting, accounting, and document processing during a vessel's shore-side repair period. SAMM, via the Simple Inspection Program Module, is required to support the MSC Shipboard Material and Readiness Test program and Onboard Contract Inspection program for shipboard testing and inspection survey documentation.
