Ship Hull Model and Cradle

Background
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) intends to award a firm-fixed price contract for the manufacturing of a Ship Hull Model with a Cradle using LSAM (Large Scale Additive Manufacturing) Technology. The ship model hull will be hydrodynamically tested at NSWCCD to assess the performance of a ship at scale. The objective is to find alternative methods of model manufacturing to save on cost and time for delivery.

Work Details
The contractor is required to manufacture a ship model hull using LSAM technology and demonstrate the use and capability for VLP (Vertical Layer Printing) and hybrid additive printing/subtractive milling practices and techniques. The ship model hull must be manufactured using an appropriate material selection, recommended ABS 20% CF (Carbon Fiber) Fill, as specified in the attached model drawing. Additionally, the contractor must manufacture a model support cradle based on technical specifications provided by the Sponsor. The cradle must be moveable on four properly sized caster wheels and capable of supporting the weight of the model including NSWC-installed equipment, which is approximately 1,500 lbs.

Period of Performance
Delivery of the ship model hull and model support cradle must be completed in a timely manner based upon lead time of 6-8 weeks, with delivery no later than August 30th, 2022.

Place of Performance
The manufacturing and delivery of the ship model hull and model support cradle will take place at a location determined by the contractor.
