Services for modification of existing oven equipment required to fabricate final parts that serve as final project deliverables for the STMD Deployable Composite Boom Fabrication (DCB-FAB) project that are to be completed by the end of CY25.

Background
In 2022, NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) purchased a 56.5 ft long batch curing oven from Wisconsin Oven Corp. (WOC) for processing thermoset composite parts. The goal of this contract is to modify the existing oven to increase its maximum operating temperature from 550°F to 750°F, enabling the processing of high-temperature materials such as thermoplastic composites.

Work Details
The contractor shall perform the following tasks:

1. Remove the complete heater house and prepare the area for a new larger heater house.

2. Fabricate, supply, and install a new heater house with an increased height of approximately 18 inches, maintaining the same length and depth as the previous one, equipped with a plug fan style recirculation blower. The overall system height will increase by approximately 42 inches.

3. Replace the current exhaust blower with a new 3000 CFM, 3 HP exhaust system.

4. Alter interior duct work and downcomers to accommodate the new heater house and blowers.

5. Utilize the same style heater plug of 144 KW wired back to the control panel, understanding that maintaining current input power may extend heat-up time.

6. Ensure all modifications enable the oven to operate at a maximum temperature of 750°F.

7. Relocate the oven back into its final position and test for proper operation post-service completion.

8. Conduct a twenty-five point empty chamber temperature uniformity survey test at installation's end without guarantees on set point temperatures; if performance is unsatisfactory, WOC will propose adjustments for optimal air/heat distribution.

9. Include all field service & in-house labor, engineering, updated prints, and travel & living expenses in the proposal.

Period of Performance
The contractor shall deliver services within 16 weeks after receipt of order.
