Description

The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) focuses on getting more treatments to more patients more quickly. Several thousand genetic diseases affect humans, of which only about 500 have any treatment. NCATS is directly addressing this problem by discovering new technologies and other approaches that could greatly accelerate the process of developing and deploying solutions that can be used by all translational researchers.

The goal of the contract is to ensure instrumentation remains operational and performs in accordance with its original equipment manufacturers' operational specifications. Contractor shall provide all labor, material, and equipment for a service agreement for the Nikon AX confocal microscope system.

The Nikon AX microscope is a state-of-the-art imaging device used by NCATS scientists to observe fine details and structure within cells and tissues. The system includes advanced components such as high-performance lasers, detectors, scanners, and sophisticated software for image acquisition and analysis. Regular use of this microscope necessitates routing maintenance and occasional repairs to ensure optimal performance. Given the complexity of the system, maintaining its functionality is essential for the continuity and reliability of research activities at NCATS.

Independently and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall furnish all the necessary services, qualified personnel, material, equipment, and facilities, not otherwise provided by the Government as needed to perform services and preventative maintenance for the Nikon AX-SHR confocal microscope system. Components covered are:

  • AX Scanner and Controller: S/N 521226
  • LUA-S4 Laser Fixture: S/N 53361
  • Detector Unit: S/N 600210
  • Ti2-E main body: s/N 550409

In additional to the coverage listed above (General Requirements), the Contractor shall:

  • Provide a service agreement with 12 month period of performance
  • Parts, labor and travel included at no additional cost to the Government
  • Priority response time for service calls, ideally within 24-48 hours, to minimize downtime.
  • Inclusion of genuine OEM replacement parts as needed for repairs.
  • Detailed service reports for each maintenance and repair visit, including work performed, parts replaced, and system performance verification.

The base period of performance shall be for a period of twelve (12) months upon award.
