Background
The United States Army is focused on modernizing its field artillery formations through the characterization and experimentation of mature and available 155mm self-propelled howitzer systems. This initiative aligns with the Army Transformation Initiative (ATI) strategy, which has been re-evaluated over the past eight months to better support modernization objectives.

The Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems (PEO GCS) and the Project Manager Self-Propelled Howitzer Systems (PM SPHS) are leading this effort, specifically through the Product Manager Self-Propelled Howitzer - Modernization (PdM SPH-M). The goal of this Request for Information (RFI) is to leverage industry expertise to identify opportunities for soldier experimentation and shape the acquisition strategy for these systems.

Work Details
The RFI outlines several key tasks and services to be completed under this contract:
1. Conduct soldier experimentation involving temporarily issuing self-propelled howitzer systems to soldiers in a Transform in Contact (TiC) brigade.
2. Pursue conditional safety releases for any system(s) used, allowing for early delivery of materiel with 'spiraling in' functionality, supported by contractor-provided verification or safety data and abbreviated testing at a US Army test site.
3. Utilize contractor-based logistics throughout the duration of the experiment.
4. Focus on limited ammunition combinations during experimentation, primarily using US 155mm ammunition.
5. Ensure that the self-propelled howitzer can receive a digital fire message from a US Army Fire Direction Center at the initiation of experimentation.

Period of Performance
The specific period of performance is not defined in this RFI; however, it will encompass the duration necessary for soldier experimentation and associated logistics.

Place of Performance
The contract work will take place within the contiguous United States.
