Sea Lice Genotyping

Background
The USDA Agricultural Research Service is seeking to conduct DNA extraction and genotyping of sea lice (Lepeophtheirus salmonis). This initiative is part of their mission to enhance understanding and management of marine aquaculture. The goal of the contract is to obtain detailed genetic data from preserved sea lice samples, which will aid in research and management efforts.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Perform DNA extraction from preserved sea lice tissue samples, specifically single pre-adult or adult animals stored in ethanol.

2. Conduct single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping using AXIOM LSAL200K 96-ARRAY genotyping technology in a 96-well format on the GeneTitan Instrument or an equivalent system.

3. Deliver genotyping data for all samples along with raw data files in .cel format (CEL files) and PLINK format (either .ped and .map or .bed, .bim, and .fam).

4. Return any unused tissue samples and DNA samples back to the government.

5. Provide all necessary services, supplies, equipment, and facilities to fulfill the deliverables as specified in the solicitation.
