Background
The contract is issued for the Sacramento River Erosion (SRE) C5 Pioneer Bridge Levee Improvements project, which aims to enhance levee stability and reduce the risk of failure due to erosion. The project is located under the I-80 Pioneer Bridge in Sacramento, California, and is part of efforts to protect approximately 1,000 feet of levee along the Sacramento River.

The improvements are critical for maintaining the integrity of the levee system and safeguarding surrounding areas from potential flooding.

Work Details
The contractor will perform design-bid-build construction services that include:
- Implementation of erosion protection measures both above and below the average low flow water surface elevation (approximately 7 feet NAVD88).
- Installation of a 3.5-foot-thick lens of launchable Graded Stone C below the water surface to prevent bank scour and erosion.
- Extension of Graded Stone C above the water surface to the top of the bank in areas under the Pioneer Bridge.
- Placement of a 3.5-foot-thick lens of soil-rock mix above water to protect against wave wash caused by boat wakes and wind waves.
- Demolition and removal of existing upper bank material beneath the I-80 Pioneer Bridge to establish a suitable foundation for new materials.
- Installation of In-stream Woody Material (IWM) below the water line to create habitat cover for fisheries and provide flow deflection along the bank.

All work is required to be completed using barge operations.

Period of Performance
The contractor shall begin performance within a specified number of calendar days after receiving award and notice to proceed, with completion also required within a specified number of calendar days.
