Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Rocky Mountain Network, also known as VISN 19, is seeking regulated medical waste removal and disposal services for eight VA Medical Centers and approximately seventy-six additional sites of care within the geographic region of VISN 19. The VA Rocky Mountain Network serves an area covering the states of Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma, and portions of Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, and North Dakota. The contract will be awarded for a 5-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) with a 12-month base period and four 12-month option periods. The estimated total award amount is $47 million.

Work Details
The contractor is required to provide regulated medical waste removal and disposal services for the listed VA Medical Centers and sites of care in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This includes the pickup and disposal of regulated medical waste (RMW), trace chemotherapy waste, non-hazardous pharmaceutical waste, and pathological waste. The contractor must provide all labor, supervision, equipment, training, protective equipment, labeling, manifest, transportation, treatment, and disposal at an approved facility. The contract includes a minimum guarantee of disposing 200 tons of waste per year and a maximum of 500 tons per year. The contractor must also provide mail-in disposal services from rural clinics.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for the contract will be from July 1st, 2024 to June 30th, 2025 for the base year period. Additionally, there are four option year periods from July 1st to June 30th for each subsequent year.
