NTX Medical Waste Removal Services

Background
The North Texas Veterans Healthcare System, part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, requires Medical Waste Removal Services to support its mission of providing quality healthcare to veterans. This contract aims to ensure the safe and compliant disposal of biomedical waste generated across various facilities within the healthcare system.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide Biomedical Waste pickup from designated locations within the VA North Texas Health Care System, including Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), Garland VA Medical Center, Tyler VA Clinic, Ft. Worth Clinic, Sam Rayburn Memorial Center, Polk Street Annex, Plano CBOC, and Grand Prairie CBOC.

The services are divided into two parts: Part A involves the pickup and transport of biomedical waste to the Dallas VA Medical Center's Sani-I-Pak waste processing center; Part B includes the disposal of special waste such as chemotherapy and pathological waste from the Dallas VA Medical Center.

The contractor is responsible for all labor, materials, supplies, carts, equipment, and transportation needed for these tasks. Specific requirements include:
1) Compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding medical waste transportation and disposal;
2) Provision of carts for bio-hazard bags and sharps;
3) Training of staff in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT standards;
4) Documentation of training upon request;
5) Weighing and manifesting all waste picked up;
6) Cleaning and disinfecting collection carts;
7) Providing certificates of destruction for processed waste within five business days;
8) Conducting performance testing at no charge;
9) Offering continuing education on proper handling of infectious medical waste.

Period of Performance
The contract has a base period of one year starting from September 1, 2025, with four additional one-year optional renewal periods.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations including: VA North Texas Health Care System in Dallas (4500 S. Lancaster Road), Ft. Worth Outpatient Clinic (2201 SE Loop 820), Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center (1201 E. Ninth Bonham), Polk Annex PACT (4243 S. Polk Street), Tyler CBOC (3414 Golden Rd.), Plano CBOC (3804 W. 15TH Street), Grand Prairie CBOC (2737 Sherman Street), and Garland VA Hospital (2300 Marie Curie).
