Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing a contract for the collection and disposal of Infectious Waste (IW) and Potentially Infectious Medical Waste (PIMW) at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, IL. The contract aims to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding medical waste disposal, which is critical for maintaining health and safety standards within healthcare facilities. This requirement is set aside for 100% Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs).

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all necessary labor, personnel, supplies, travel, supervision, equipment, tools, and materials to perform IW and PIMW collection and disposal services. Tasks include:

1. Collection of IW and PIMW from specified locations including the Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago and various clinics.

2. Proper packaging, labeling, inventorying, manifesting, transportation, and disposal of waste in accordance with applicable laws.

3. Ensuring that waste removal is performed with minimal disruption to medical center operations.

4. Establishing a collection schedule that ensures no biohazard waste remains on-site for more than 5 days.

5. Responding to unscheduled collections within 24 hours when required by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).

6. Adhering to specific operational hours from Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM excluding holidays.

Period of Performance
The contract has a five-year ordering period from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2029.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at the Captain James A Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, IL, as well as its affiliated Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOCs) located in Evanston, Kenosha, McHenry, and various Naval Branch Clinics at Great Lakes.
