Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing a contract for Medical Waste Removal Services to support its mission of providing high-quality healthcare to veterans. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safe and compliant removal and disposal of hazardous medical waste generated at various VA facilities, including the Charles George VAMC and several community outpatient clinics.

Work Details
The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, etc., necessary for the removal and disposal of medical, chemotherapy, pathological, and pharmaceutical waste. Specific tasks include:
- Developing a Medical Waste Removal Plan for approval by the Chief of Environmental Management Services.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable EPA, OSHA, and local regulations.
- Providing removal services twice weekly for approximately 185,000 pounds of waste at the Asheville VA Medical Center and bi-weekly services for smaller quantities at other clinics.
- Cleaning containers prior to returning them after emptying.
- Coordinating with the Contracting Office Representative (COR) before starting work and notifying them of any disruptions to normal operations.
- Adhering to all safety guidelines in a hospital environment, including maintaining accountability for tools and materials.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027, with options for renewal in subsequent years.
