Alexandria VA Quarters Lawn Service

Background
The Alexandria VA Medical Center (AVAMC) is a 160+ acre facility located at 2495 Shreveport Highway, Pineville, LA 71360-4044. The AVAMC has a requirement for a grounds contractor to maintain the landscaping and grounds of the facility to enhance its visual appeal and ensure safety for pedestrians and vehicles. This contract is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs under the Network Contracting Office 16.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items necessary for Grounds Maintenance as defined in this Performance Work Statement. Specific tasks include: maintaining shrubs and hedges; mulching beds; removing weeds; cutting the lawn as scheduled; planting seasonal bedding flowers; removing dead trees and shrubs; fertilizing the lawn twice a year; picking up and disposing of fallen leaves; performing two pavement sandings after freezing rain events; daily debris pickup including along Highway 71.

Lawn mowing will occur weekly for a total of 40 cuttings per year. The contractor must also provide a schedule of cuttings for approval by the facility. Additional responsibilities include ordering and applying chemicals, fertilizers, grass seed, soil, mulch, and maintaining all grounds equipment such as lawnmowers and chainsaws. The contractor will ensure that all roads and walkways are clean of debris and will have two laborers on-site daily to monitor and pick up trash from 0700 to 1530 hours during weekdays.

Period of Performance
One (1) year with four (1) one-year options.
