DOI MIB Guard Services One-Month Exercise of Option 52.217-8

Background
The Department of the Interior (DOI), through its Interior Business Center's Acquisition Services Directorate, is conducting a limited source acquisition for security guard services at the Main Interior Building (MIB) in Washington, DC. This action ensures continued security services while a new contract is being evaluated and awarded.

Work Details
The contractor will provide 24-hour security guard services to deter unauthorized, illegal, or potentially life-threatening activities against DOI employees, visitors, information, programs, and properties.

Tasks include controlling access to the MIB, verifying badge credentials, issuing temporary badges, escorting personnel as needed, inspecting materials entering or leaving the facility, monitoring vehicular and pedestrian traffic, serving as a roving patrol, enforcing parking and traffic regulations, responding to security incidents such as intrusions or violations of law and regulations, detecting fire or safety hazards, managing civil disorders or terrorist threats, and assisting with closed circuit television monitoring.

Period of Performance
The contract extension is exercised in one-month increments for up to six months until a new award is in place.
