The National Park Service is issuing a combined synopsis/solicitation for clearing scenic vistas along the Blue Ridge Parkway at designated locations in North Carolina. These services include cutting trees, shrubs, brush, briars, and vines within specified depths of designated vistas, to provide vistas with clear and unobstructed views.

Background
The National Park Service is issuing a combined synopsis/solicitation for clearing scenic vistas along the Blue Ridge Parkway at designated locations in North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469-mile scenic highway that provides views from the many scenic vistas of the mountain ranges in Virginia and North Carolina. Most vistas are located on remote, steep, vegetated, and or rocky mountain slopes at various elevations. The services to be provided within this Performance Work Statement (PWS) consist of cutting trees, shrubs, brush, briars, and vines within specified depths of designated vistas to provide clear and unobstructed views. The requirements in this PWS continue the vista maintenance cycle begun in 2011 to lessen the impact on native species, the Northern Flying Squirrel, and reduce or slow down the growth of invasive plants at vista sites. The new approach also provides latitude in reshaping and redirecting visitor views to enhance the scenic experience and reduce degraded views adjacent development that may be impacting the view shed.

Work Details
The work includes cutting trees, shrubs, brush, briars, and vines within specified depths of designated vistas to provide clear and unobstructed views.
There are three basic types of scenic vistas along the Blue Ridge Parkway: Parking Vistas (Overlooks) (PV), Roadside Vistas (RSV), Canopy/Axial Vistas (CAV). The contractor must verify all locations prior to starting work and confirm with the Contracting Officer's Representative as needed.

The period of performance for this contract is from 7/15/2024 to 9/30/2025.

The geographic location(s) for the contract will be at designated locations along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.
