Background
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to build a low uncertainty primary flow standard to characterize flow meters that measure semiconductor gases. The flow standard will implement the 'Rate of Rise' principle. For this measurement technique, a low uncertainty flow measurement requires low uncertainty absolute pressure measurements. The measurement technique and its reliance on accurate pressure measurements are described in a paper entitled 'Errors in Rate-of-Rise Gas Flow Measurements from Flow Work' published in the Proceedings of the 10th International Symposium on Fluid Flow Measurement in 2018.
In addition to requiring an accurate pressure measurement, NIST also requires that pressure transducer (the transducer element and the process connection) be made of a material that is compatible with the semiconductor gases they plan to measure. Their market research shows that pressure transducer and process connections made of either Inconel 178 or Alloy C276 are compatible with semiconductor gases they will measure.

Work Details
NIST requires 3 absolute pressure transducers with an uncertainty of 0.025% of full scale and that are made of Inconel 178, Alloy C276, or from materials fully compatible with semiconductor gases listed in the background. All wetted components of the pressure transducer and its process connection should be made of compatible materials so that the corrosive semiconductor gases do not deteriorate the accuracy of the pressure measurement or chemically react and contaminate the purity of the gas being measured. The three absolute pressure transducers should all have a full scale of 30 psia.
