Description

ROCKY RIDGE CULTURAL RESOURCES INVENTORY
Background
The Rocky Ridge Cultural Resources Inventory project is initiated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming State Office, specifically the Lander Field Office. The mission of this project is to conduct a Class III inventory, which involves an intensive field survey aimed at identifying an appropriate boundary for Rocky Ridge, a site recognized as having high potential associated with several National Historic Trails (NHTs) including the Oregon, California, Mormon Pioneer, and Pony Express trails.

This project responds to the National Park Service's Comprehensive Management and Use Plan that highlights the need for a cultural landscape report due to threats to the resource's integrity.

Work Details
The contractor will perform a Class III pedestrian inventory over 305 acres of BLM-managed surface, focusing on identifying features and artifacts associated with the NHTs' periods of significance. The tasks include:
1. Developing an inventory strategy informed by primary source materials and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) imagery provided by BLM.
2. Conducting an intensive pedestrian inventory while limiting recordation to artifacts and features linked to the NHTs' significance.
3. Re-recording 11 historic sites within the inventory area, specifically sites 48FR3551, 48FR3588, 48FR3566, 48FR3635, 48FR3577, 48FR3638, 48FR3578, 48FR3639, 48FR3586, 48FR3640, and 48FR3587.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed from August 15, 2026 to February 11, 2027.

Place of Performance
The work will primarily take place at Rocky Ridge within the jurisdiction of the BLM-WY Lander Field Office.
