Background
This solicitation is issued by the U.S. Army for the procurement of bulk road salt, specifically high-purity sodium chloride (rock salt) intended for highway deicing. Work Details
The contract requires the delivery of 1,200 tons of BULK ROAD SALT with the following specifications:
- **Salient Characteristics**: Must be screened, high-purity sodium chloride (rock salt) meeting ASTM D632 Type I, Grade 1.
- **Chemical Composition**: Minimum 95.0% Sodium Chloride (NaCl).
- **Impurities**: Must be free of dirt, stones, trash, or other foreign matter.
- **Gradation (Particle Size Distribution)**:
- 1/2" (12.5 mm): 100% passing
- 3/8" (9.5 mm): 95% – 100% passing
- No. 4 (4.75 mm): 20% – 90% passing
- No. 8 (2.36mm): 10% – 60% passing
- No. 30 (600 μm): 0% – 15% passing
- **Moisture Content**: Shall not exceed 1.5% to 2.0% by weight at time of delivery.
- **Anti-Caking Agent**: Must be treated with a minimum of 20 PPM of Yellow Prussiate of Soda to ensure free-flowing material during storage and application.
- **Carrier Requirements**: Deliveries must be made in bulk using covered trucks and each load must have a certified weight slip.
- **Delivery Schedule**: Vendor must specify daily tonnage capacity until the full order is fulfilled.

Period of Performance
Preferred delivery time is within 30 days from the date of award.

Place of Performance
Deliveries will be made to designated locations as specified by Roads & Grounds personnel.
