Incumbent Analysis (see Incumbents section for more detail)
This opportunity appears to have a confirmed incumbent, as Johns Hopkins University was awarded closely related rheumatologist services for NIDCR in the immediately preceding periods under contracts 75N92025P00024 (SJOGREN’S SYNDROME RHEUMATOLOGIST SERVICES, $152,731; 11/28/24–11/27/25) and 75N92026P00013 (RHEUMATOLOGIST SERVICES, $154,073; 11/28/25–11/27/26). The prior work descriptions align with the current requirement for part-time rheumatologist support focused on Sjogren’s syndrome and other rheumatologic conditions with oral manifestations, including clinical management of salivary gland disorder patients and support for human subject research activities.

- clinical expertise supporting research of human subject protocols, amendments, and adverse event reporting;
- clinical management and evaluation of patients/subjects with rheumatologic conditions associated with salivary gland pathology;
- participation in screening and enrollment of subjects to clinical research protocols;

Sole Source Justification
Johns Hopkins University is the only known source capable of providing the required specialized rheumatology expertise, clinical research support, and collaborative experience necessary to support the NIDCR Salivary Gland Disorders research program.
The proposed source has the unique capability to provide a rheumatologist with demonstrated expertise in Sjogren's syndrome and related rheumatologic conditions with oral manifestations, along with the ability to support ongoing clinical care, protocol development, subject enrollment, research collaboration, and training activities integral to the NIDCR mission.
Award to another source would result in unacceptable delays, duplication of effort, and increased programmatic risk.
