Description

The purpose of this request for information (RFI) is to conduct market research on the availability of cold weather/freezer gloves. Please review the attached document for specifications.

Background
The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is part of a science-based national system aimed at ensuring food safety and food defense. The agency operates under the Federal Meat Inspection Act, the Poultry Products Inspection Act, and the Egg Products Inspection Act, as well as ensuring humane animal handling through the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act. FSIS has identified a need for cold weather/freezer gloves to support its mission of inspecting meat.

Work Details
FSIS requires cold weather/freezer gloves in sizes small, medium, large, and extra-large. The gloves must meet the following specifications:
- Cold weather protection down to -4°F/-20°C
- EN 388 abrasion and puncture resistant
- ANSI/ISEA Level 2 cut resistance
- EN 511 water resistance.
Vendors are encouraged to submit product specification sheets for technical acceptance. The first three approved products will undergo testing at meat processing facilities, requiring vendors to provide 10 pairs of gloves in each size for three testing locations.

Place of Performance
Testing will occur at designated meat processing facilities as determined by FSIS.
