  1. Purpose

Product Manager (PdM) Fire Support Systems (FSS), Program Manager (PM) Ground Weapons Systems (PM GWS), Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) requests information regarding industry's capabilities and related experience to modernize the GPS-S.

The GPS-S is a system that enables Marine Artillery Sensor Sections to provide timely and accurate survey information by operating autonomously in rugged and urban terrain while supporting expeditionary operations. This system currently consists of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, custom Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) encrypted receivers, and the Trimble Business Center software.

Please see the attached RFI for more details.

Background
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), specifically the Product Manager (PdM) Fire Support Systems (FSS) and Program Manager (PM) Ground Weapons Systems (PM GWS), is seeking information to modernize the Global Positioning System-Survey (GPS-S). The GPS-S is a critical system that enables Marine Artillery Sensor Sections to provide timely and accurate survey information autonomously in various terrains, supporting expeditionary operations. The current system comprises commercial off-the-shelf components, custom GPS encrypted receivers, and Trimble Business Center software.

Work Details
The RFI aims to gather ideas and information regarding the modernization of the GPS-S system. Key components of the GPS-S include:
- A handheld controller running the latest operating system
- An improved GPS receiver compatible with M-code
- Antennas, cables, and ancillary equipment
- AN/PRC-163 radio (government provided)
- Trimble Business Center Post Processing Software (which must interface with the system)
- A government-provided computer.

The modernization focus includes:
- Improving the system to utilize M-code GPS
- Ensuring compatibility with Windows 11-compliant post-processing software
- Enabling communication between Reference and Roving Stations via AN/PRC-163 radio
- Upgrading the handheld controller to the latest operating system.

Integration with existing Marine Corps systems such as Trimble S7 Theodolite, AN/PRC-163 handheld radio, Windows 11 computer, and Trimble Business Center software is essential. The handheld controller must communicate with post-processing software via cable and control survey points on the Trimble S7 total station.

Place of Performance
The geographic location for performance is not explicitly stated in the RFI.
