Request for Information - Redesign of the Nano.gov Website

Background
The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO) is seeking a redesign of the nano.gov website, which serves as a key resource for information on nanotechnology, research and development advances, and activities produced by the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI).

The NNCO conducts public engagement on behalf of the NNI and provides technical support to the interagency nanotechnology community. The goal of this contract is to enhance the website's user experience and engagement through a modern design that reflects the innovative nature of nanotechnology.

Work Details
The web design company will be responsible for:
- Reimagining and redesigning the NNI’s web presence with a clean, modern website accessible on both desktop and mobile devices.
- Improving user experience by creating an engaging, intuitive, less text-heavy navigation system with consistent branding.
- Ensuring compliance with government standards, security rules, and 508 compliance.
- Conducting front- and back-end development including themes, templates, components, and application programming interfaces.
- Implementing a platform that allows for continuous improvement and easy updates by internal NNCO IT staff.
- Optional tasks may include content analytics, messaging recommendations, creation of a searchable inventory of NNI resources, development of a smart database for external information access, and designing a visually appealing nanotechnology timeline.
- Collaborating with NNCO staff to develop website themes and interactive prototypes before public launch.
- Conducting periodic security reviews, user experience design training, site audits, search engine optimization reviews, and providing recommendations based on analytics data.
