Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Quotations are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued.

Solicitation number 1232SA26Q0412 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Replacing two existing Air Handling Units at the National Agricultural Library, 10301 Baltimore Ave, Beltsville, MD 20705.

Background
The National Agricultural Library (NAL), part of the United States Department of Agriculture, is seeking to replace two existing Air Handling Units (AHU-4 and AHU-5) that have reached the end of their useful lives.

The library, built in the mid to late 1960s, spans approximately 340,000 square feet and includes a fifteen-story tower and a two-story annex. The goal of this contract is to ensure that the library remains operational during construction while upgrading its HVAC systems to improve efficiency and reliability.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the complete replacement of AHU-4 and AHU-5 according to the 100% Design Package prepared by Summers Consultants Inc. This includes:

- Demolition of existing units and associated components;
- Installation of new Variable Air Volume (VAV) terminals in existing ductwork;
- Provision of temporary cooling for specific office areas during construction;
- Installation of a new control system fully integrated into the existing Building Automation System (BAS);
- Equipment commissioning;
- Training for onsite personnel.

All necessary services, field labor, equipment (including cranes and rigging), materials, testing, and personal protective equipment must be provided by the contractor. The facility will remain occupied throughout the project, necessitating careful planning to limit service interruptions.
