Repair of fume hoods

Background
The National Science Laboratory-Blakely (NSL-B) is the reference USDA laboratory responsible for testing aflatoxin levels in nuts and nut products. This laboratory plays a crucial role in maintaining scientific support capabilities for nuts covered under Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Marketing Agreements and Orders.

The NSL-Blakely also provides AMS Commodity Procurement with scientific support and testing for USDA-purchased nut products, ensuring compliance with aflatoxin level requirements. The laboratory's operations depend on the proper functioning of fume hoods, which are essential for conducting these analyses safely.

Work Details
The contractor is tasked with repairing eleven fume hoods to ensure they operate effectively and safely. The specific tasks include:

- Disconnecting existing 115V electrical connections to the exhaust fan;
- Removing the existing exhaust fan and zero pressure cap;
- Installing new PVC flex connectors;
- Setting new exhaust fans;
- Installing new PVC exhaust stacks with guy wires;
- Completing new electrical connections to the exhaust fan motors;
- Removing and replacing existing fume hood alarms;
- Testing each fume hood in accordance with OSHA requirements;
- Calibrating alarms;
- Replacing fume hood lights;
- Ensuring all debris is removed to maintain a clean work environment.

Period of Performance
The work is expected to commence within five calendar days after the contractor receives the notice to proceed and must be completed within 45 days after that notice.
