Background
The contract is issued by the Kadena Air Base, located in Okinawa, Japan, with the goal of repairing the HVAC system in the Passenger Terminal area of Building 3409. The project aims to ensure that the mechanical systems meet federal and industry standards while integrating sustainable practices into the design and construction process.

Work Details
The work includes replacing air handling units, associated supply/return ductwork, registers, grilles, piping, gate valves, insulation, digital direct controls, fire dampers, and installing additional split units. Testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) and commissioning of the mechanical system is required. The scope also includes abatement/removal of any Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) and Lead-Based Paint (LBP) encountered during construction. The contractor must conduct field investigations and surveys to provide all necessary materials and labor for a fully functional final product.

Specific tasks include:
1) Removal and disposal of existing HVAC system equipment;
2) Replacement of exterior ductwork;
3) Installation of new HVAC system components;
4) Provision of new DX split type air conditioning units in designated office rooms;
5) Repairing and repainting existing decorative wall cladding;
6) Adjustments to accommodate new doors in Mechanical Rooms.

Period of Performance
The total period of performance for this contract is 692 calendar days, which includes 141 days for design and 551 days for on-site construction.
