Description

This project entails the renovation of the Preventive Maintenance (PM) shop and the replacement of the canopy roof section. The construction of such includes tearing off the old canopy roof and replacing with a new 5,000 square (sq.) foot (ft.) roof, demolition of the existing equipment lift, and replacing/installing a new 3,000-pound (lb.) capacity equipment lift with rail. Also, removal of a stainless-steel sink, emergency shower with eye wash station, installation of five (5) new flammable storage cabinets, led light strips for canopy illumination and three (3) adjustable fans. Additionally, site improvements shall include the acquisition and installation of a 1,000 sq. equipment screen, new chain link fence with gates, pressure washing, and paint to fence areas and yard asphalt. The contractor shall be required to make connections/installation/repair(s) to the sanitary waste system, storm drainage, electrical & lighting, and finishes. See attached Solictation.

Background
The project is issued by the Miami VA Healthcare System, part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The mission of the agency is to provide high-quality healthcare to veterans. The goal of this contract is to renovate the Preventive Maintenance (PM) shop and replace the existing aluminum canopy roof section, which will enhance operational efficiency and prolong the useful life of the facility.

Work Details
The contractor shall perform all necessary construction work as outlined in the Statement of Work (SOW) for Project Number 546-22-106. Key tasks include:

1. Demolition and Site Preparation:
- Remove existing aluminum canopy, integrated gutter, downspouts, and structural elements.
- Demolish existing equipment lift, stainless steel utility sink, emergency shower, and eye wash station.
- Remove approximately 250 square feet of chain link fence.
- Prepare site for new construction and installations.

2. New Canopy Construction:
- Construct a new hurricane-rated, freestanding 5,000 square foot canopy.
- Install a Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) roofing system on the new canopy.
- Provide and install a new gutter and downspout system for the canopy.

3. Equipment and Fixtures:
- Install a new 3,000-pound capacity equipment lift with rail.
- Install a new stainless-steel sink and emergency shower with eye wash station.
- Provide and install five flammable storage cabinets.
- Install LED light strips for canopy illumination and three adjustable fans.

4. Site Improvements:
- Construct approximately 1,000 square feet of equipment screen.
- Install new chain link fence with gates to replace removed sections.

5. Drainage:
- Connect to existing sanitary waste piping and stormwater main; install necessary PVC pipes and fittings.

6. Electrical and Lighting:
- Provide all necessary electrical work for new equipment and lighting; install lightning protection system for the new canopy.

7. Finishes:
- Apply required finishes as per specifications; ensure interior finishes meet VA Design Guideline criteria.

8. Project Close-out:
- Perform testing and commissioning of installed systems; provide documentation including as-built drawings.

Period of Performance
200 calendar days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

The construction site is located at the Bruce W. Carter Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MVAMC), 1201 NW 16 Street, Miami, Florida 33125.
