Description

The Relay Ground Station South (RGS-S) site is located at Shriever Space Force Base outside of Colorado Springs, CO. The site is situated inside the restricted area. The purpose of the project is to provide the Space Force with the facilities and infrastructure (FI) needed to support RGS-S. The project will be executed using a Design-Build (DB) project delivery method, which will require the contractor to provide the Government with a complete design that will provide construction of a complete and usable facility to include warranty based on the Request for Proposal (RFP). Facilities and infrastructure will be designed, procured, installed, and commissioned by the Contractor. The facilities and infrastructure will primarily consist of concrete pads, antenna pedestal foundations, radome ringwalls, site utilities, backup generators, fuel tanks, pathways and cabling, and shelters.

Background
The Relay Ground Station South (RGS-S) project is sponsored by the United States Space Force (USSF) and aims to provide essential support for the Space Systems Command (SSC) mission. Located at Schriever Space Force Base outside of Colorado Springs, CO, the project will facilitate the operation of Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) satellite ground stations.

The project is funded under Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) appropriations and includes design, procurement, development, integration, and testing of advanced technology hardware and software systems for communication with various space vehicles. Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for designing, procuring, installing, and commissioning facilities and infrastructure primarily consisting of:

- Shelters.

The structural scope includes building/equipment pads, antenna pedestal foundations, radome ringwall foundations, radome ECU pads, and transformer pads. The project must meet specific design criteria including risk category IV standards as per UFC guidelines. Major components include Ground Terminal Equipment (GTE), Communications and Networking Equipment (CNE), Facilities and Infrastructure (F&I), and Command Control Communications Computers Intelligence/Information Technology (C4I/IT). The GTE will consist of 13.5-meter antennas housed in environmentally controlled radomes capable of receiving communications from space vehicles in various frequency bands.
