Background
The United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) is seeking services for the disposal and incineration of Regulated Medical Waste (RMW).

USAMRIID has a mission to protect military personnel from biological threats and to prepare for public health emergencies. This requirement arises from the closure of the on-post medical incinerator at Fort Detrick, Maryland, which has been closed since April 2018 due to compliance issues identified during inspections by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). The contract aims to ensure safe and compliant disposal of various classes of RMW.

Work Details
The contractor will provide severable, non-personal services including:
- Pickup, transportation, disposal, and incineration of RMW categorized into groups such as cultures, pathological waste, blood products, sharps, animal waste, and isolation wastes.
- Compliance with current EPA standards and MDE regulations.
- Provision of all necessary personnel, equipment, supplies, transportation, and facilities required for service delivery.
- Adherence to MEDCOM Regulation 40-35 regarding the management of regulated medical waste.
- The contractor must ensure that HAZMAT drivers are U.S. citizens with valid government identification for on-post access.

Period of Performance
