Refuse and Recycling Services at USAFA

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) requires integrated solid waste management to collect and dispose of refuse and recyclable materials on USAFA and Farish Memorial Park. This requirement includes daily scheduled and unscheduled collections, support for special events, and container maintenance. There are approximately 200 containers of various types ranging in capacity from 3 to 40 cubic yards. Standard dumpsters and roll-off containers are provided by the contractor while compactors and bear-proof dumpsters are government owned. Generally, paper and cardboard comprise recyclable collections. Exceptions include plastic, aluminum, and glass at the community center parking lot for the general public and plastic at Mitchell Hall. The contractor provides supervision, drivers, vehicles, tools, materials, containers and all other items and services necessary to perform all PWS requirements.
