Background
The project is initiated by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) at Station Portage, MI, aimed at recapitalizing family housing. The goal of the contract is to design and build new housing units to enhance living conditions for personnel stationed there.

Work Details
The scope of work includes the supervision, labor, tools, equipment, materials, transportation, and other services necessary for the design/build of five new housing units at USCG Station Portage. This includes constructing multiplex family housing structures consisting of two three-bedroom units and three four-bedroom units.

Additional tasks include relocating two existing shed structures, replacing playground equipment, providing parking facilities, upgrading utilities, and expanding the residential septic system to accommodate all base and optional units. The project also includes three options:

- Option Item #1 involves designing and constructing one three-bedroom unit with associated infrastructure.
- Option Item #2 involves designing and constructing a duplex housing unit consisting of two three-bedroom units.
- Option Item #3 involves designing and constructing a maintenance building with associated infrastructure.

The evaluation criteria for proposals will focus on innovative solutions for placement of housing units, stormwater management, landscaping enhancements, organization of spaces, orientation for solar use, variation in building façade, safety and maintenance considerations of exterior materials, and risk mitigation strategies.

The construction projects will be performed at USCG Station Portage located in Dollar Bay, Michigan.
