Description

This is a non-personal services contract for the provision of support in vector-borne disease surveillance at the Kintampo Health Research Center (KHRC). The Contractor shall furnish all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, consumables, and non-personal services required to conduct vector-borne infection surveillance in the Bono East Region of Ghana, as outlined in this Performance Work Statement (PWS).

Background
This contract is issued by the U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit EURAFCENT (NAMRU EURAFCENT) for the provision of non-personal services in support of vector-borne disease surveillance at the Kintampo Health Research Center (KHRC) in Ghana.

The mission is to assess the prevalence of vector-borne diseases, particularly those transmitted by ticks and mosquitoes, to understand public health risks in Ghana and West Africa. The KHRC has been selected due to its strategic location and proven capabilities in conducting biomedical research.

Work Details
The Contractor shall perform the following tasks:
1. Collect mosquitoes and ticks from designated field sites, ensuring collection of 50 to 5,000 mosquitoes and 20 to 800 ticks per quarter.
2. Ensure proper procedures for sample collection, labeling, handling, storage, and transportation of samples to the KHRC laboratory for temporary storage before shipping to Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).
3. Perform accurate entomological identification of all collected vector specimens.
4. Implement standardized procedures across all study sites and supervise surveillance staff at each location.
5. Recruit and train staff on research ethics, field sample collection, and entomological identification of vectors.
6. Maintain communication with NAMRU EURAFCENT contacts regarding challenges impacting contract deliverables.
7. Submit activity reports monthly, quarterly, or annually as directed.

Period of Performance
The period of performance is one base year from September 30, 2025, to September 29, 2026, with an option for an additional year from September 30, 2026, to September 29, 2027.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the Kintampo Health Research Center located in the Bono East Region of Ghana.
