Data Collection of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for Neuromodulation Research

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a contractor to collect structural and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) data for research purposes. This contract is aimed at supporting studies related to substance use disorders and chronic pain, specifically through the laboratory for Therapeutic Neuromodulation at the Washington DC VA Medical Center.

The goal is to gather data that will contribute to two funded research studies focusing on low-intensity focused ultrasound targeting the human insula.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all necessary services, qualified personnel, materials, equipment, and facilities to perform the following tasks:
1. Review baseline brain CT and MRI scans for imaging exclusion criteria as outlined in research protocols and provide reports that are research-focused rather than formal clinical evaluations.
2. Review structural MRI scans post-experimental intervention for any changes compared to baseline MRI scans, also providing research reports.
3. Report any incidental findings discovered during scan reviews to the VA Principal Investigator within 24 hours.

The contractor is expected to provide up to 91 hours of effort during the first performance period, with each participant undergoing approximately 5 hours of scanning throughout their study.

Period of Performance
Base period from May 4, 2026, to May 3, 2027; Option Period One from May 4, 2027, to May 3, 2028; Option Period Two from May 4, 2028, to May 3, 2029.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the contractor's office and MRI scans will take place at the Washington DC VA Medical Center and/or at the Center for Molecular and Functional Imaging (CFMI) at Georgetown University.
