Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking contractors to provide on-site telephone switchboard operator services for the Salem VA Medical Center located in Salem, Virginia. The goal of this contract is to ensure efficient communication and support for the medical center's operations, enhancing the overall service delivery to veterans and their families.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all necessary labor, personnel, supervision, transportation, and equipment to deliver on-site telephone switchboard operator and administrative support services. Key tasks include:
- Providing switchboard coverage 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
- Receiving incoming calls and directing them to appropriate parties.
- Responding to operator assistant calls within three rings and providing progress updates to callers on hold.
- Handling emergency calls and notifying appropriate personnel during critical situations.
- Maintaining logs of unusual incidents and general operation records.
- Providing paging services for medical center staff as requested.
- Utilizing the VA VISTA system for reference purposes regarding on-call schedules.
- Conducting code blue testing at the start of each shift and documenting results.
- Ensuring professionalism in all communications with callers.

Period of Performance
The contract will have a base period of performance of one year starting from December 1, 2025, with four additional option years available.
