R1 Road Maintenance   3

Background
The purpose of this contract is to provide road maintenance services within the geographic area of Region 1 of the US Forest Service. The award will result in an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, which allows for an indefinite quantity of services over a fixed time period.

The US Forest Service aims to maintain and enhance the operational capability of roads within its jurisdiction.

Work Details
The Contractor shall furnish all necessary labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals required for road maintenance. Tasks include:

1. Road Grading - maintaining the crown, inslope or outslope of the traveled way and shoulders, drainage dips, leadoff ditches, berms, turnouts, and removal of minor slides and slumps using a typical road grader.

2. Vegetation Clearing - cutting and disposing of all vegetative growth including trees that obstruct the road surface and removal of hazard trees as directed by the Forest Service.

The work will be performed across various forests in Region 1 including Dakota Prairie Grasslands, Custer Gallatin National Forest, Helena Lewis and Clark National Forest, Beaverhead Deerlodge National Forest, Lolo National Forest, Bitterroot National Forest, Flathead National Forest, Kootenai National Forest, Idaho Panhandle National Forest, and Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest.

Place of Performance
The geographic locations for performance include multiple forests within Region 1: Dakota Prairie Grasslands, Custer Gallatin National Forest, Helena Lewis and Clark National Forest, Beaverhead Deerlodge National Forest in the East; Lolo National Forest, Bitterroot National Forest, Flathead National Forest, Kootenai National Forest in the West; and Idaho Panhandle National Forest and Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest in Idaho.
