Description

International Regulatory Assistance with Radioactive Sources and Uranium Recovery projects
Background
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has been involved in enhancing nuclear safety and security globally for over thirty years. This includes providing technical assistance and training on regulatory practices related to radioactive sources, waste management, and transport. The NRC aims to continue these efforts over the next five to ten years, addressing emerging needs in collaboration with regulatory bodies in various countries.

Work Details
The contractor will provide personnel with specialized technical and scientific expertise to assist NRC staff in delivering nuclear-related assistance internationally. Key tasks include:

1) Supporting the adoption of the IAEA's Code of Conduct on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources;
2) Developing regulations for the oversight of nuclear materials;
3) Providing technical assistance for program planning, management, and regulatory development;
4) Establishing a national registry for radioactive sources;
5) Enhancing oversight capabilities through training and resource provision;
6) Conducting workshops and educational programs in collaboration with local universities;
