LSJ to Extend Interpreter Services for EPA Deaf and Hard of Hearing Employees

Background
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is committed to providing necessary services for its Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) employees. This justification outlines the need to extend interpreter services, including American Sign Language (ASL), Cued Language Transliterator (CLT), and Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART) captioning, to ensure compliance with statutory mandates and maintain operational continuity.

Work Details
The contractor will provide basic and scientific interpreter services, including ASL and CLT, as well as CART captioning for D/HH employees at EPA agency-wide events, whether remote or on-site. These services will cover various technical subjects such as environmental science, legal matters, enforcement material, information technology, and general professional workplace discussions.

The extension aims to uphold the EPA's commitment to enabling D/HH employees to fulfill their professional responsibilities in a hybrid workforce environment. The current contractor, Access, has demonstrated satisfactory performance under the existing task order and is familiar with the service requirements.

Period of Performance
The contract extension will last for a duration of 6 months, concluding on September 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed agency-wide at various locations depending on event requirements.
