Ecological and Human Health Risks of Contaminants   3

Background
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is issuing this solicitation to assess and communicate the ecological and human health risks associated with contaminants in water, fish, sediments, and microbial pathogens in surface waters.

The goal of this contract is to provide comprehensive technical services that will support the Office of Science and Technology (OST) within EPA's Office of Water (OW). This initiative aims to enhance the understanding of environmental risks and inform regulatory decisions.

Work Details
The contractor shall furnish necessary personnel, materials, equipment, services, and facilities to perform the tasks outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) included in Attachment 1. Key tasks include:
1. Assessing ecological risks associated with contaminants in water bodies.
2. Evaluating human health risks linked to exposure to these contaminants.
3. Conducting studies on microbial pathogens present in surface waters.
4. Preparing reports that detail findings and recommendations based on assessments.
5. Collaborating with EPA representatives to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
6. Providing technical support for data collection and analysis related to environmental contaminants.
7. Developing strategies for risk communication to stakeholders and the public.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract is set for five years from the date of award.

Place of Performance
The work will primarily be performed at locations designated by the EPA, which may include various field sites across the United States.
