Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing this solicitation for Autopsy Services to support the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS).

The goal of this contract is to provide accredited Pathology Physician Services off-site, ensuring that all services meet or exceed applicable standards set by The Joint Commission (TJC). This contract aims to enhance the quality of care provided to veterans by ensuring thorough and professional autopsy services.

Work Details
The Contractor shall provide accredited Pathology Physician Services off-site for VAPAHCS, performing anatomical autopsy services as specified. All physicians must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Forensic Pathology.

Services include:
- Providing either a partial or full autopsy, including standard gross and microscopic samplings, photography, neuropathology, and toxicology.
- Transporting cadavers from the VAMC location to the Contractor’s facility.
- Logging in cadavers upon receipt and maintaining medical records securely.
- Providing preliminary anatomical diagnoses within three business days for partial autopsies and full reports within sixty business days.
- Ensuring compliance with special registry protocols for certain cases (e.g., POWs, Agent Orange).
- Submitting additional wet tissue samples and duplicate slides to the Laboratory Director at VAPAHCS within ten business days post-autopsy completion.
- Presenting findings at clinical conferences upon mutual agreement with VAMC.

Place of Performance
Services will be provided off-site within 50 miles of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System located at 3801 Miranda Avenue, Palo Alto, California.
