Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking to procure Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Services to support the VA Central Health Care System located in Des Moines, IA. The goal of this contract is to provide comprehensive pathology services, including on-site and off-site testing and consultative services for beneficiaries of the VA.

Work Details
The Contractor shall provide Board Certified/Board Eligible Pathology services on-site, along with associated pathology reference testing and consultative services off-site. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing daily on-site pathology professional services for microscopic and diagnostic examination of surgical samples.
- Supplying a Pathology Assistant or pathologist for on-site gross examination of pathology samples.
- Offering on-call coverage for emergent cases, including frozen section examinations, with a response time of 30 minutes.
- Delivering off-site professional consultation by pathologists with subspecialty training in Dermatopathology, Cytopathology, and Hematopathology.
- Conducting all cytology services (excluding GYN and urine cytology) and technical surgical pathology testing that exceeds the capabilities of the VACIHCS.
- Ensuring that all pathologists are Board Certified/Board Eligible in both clinical and anatomic pathology.
- Providing testing beyond the laboratory's scope through a College of American Pathologist accredited facility.

Place of Performance
The primary place of performance will be at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System, located at 3600 30th Street, Des Moines, IA 50310.
