Description

** THIS IS A SOLE SOURCE REQUIREMENT ** for prototype textile development

Background
This contract is issued for the development of advanced textile materials specifically for lunar spacesuit applications. The agency's mission is to enhance the capabilities and performance of space suits through innovative textile solutions.

The goal of this contract is to create custom-woven Vectran-based fabrics that meet the stringent requirements of space exploration.

Work Details
The contractor shall develop, finish, and apply advanced coatings to custom-woven Vectran-based fabrics intended for use in lunar spacesuit applications. This includes conducting both plain and pattern weave trials, as well as implementing finishing techniques such as calendaring and applying a high-performance resin coating.

The work will be structured around specific milestones:
1) Beam completion,
2) Plain weave trial,
3) Pattern weave trial,
4) Finishing trial (calendaring + resin coating).

Period of Performance
The Period of Performance (POP) is set for 6 months following the Approved to Proceed (ATP) date, with milestones scheduled at one month intervals after ATP.
