Background
The Providence VA Medical Center (PVAMC) is seeking construction services to replace the existing main electrical substation at the Providence VA Health Care System. This project is essential for ensuring that the facility can meet future electrical demands and maintain operational efficiency.

The new substation will be built adjacent to the current one, which must remain functional until the new installation is fully operational.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for all labor, equipment, certifications, supervision, and materials necessary for the project. Key tasks include:
1) Developing a phasing plan to maintain power during installation;
2) Constructing approximately 500 feet of underground duct bank;
3) Decommissioning and removing the existing substation;
4) Preparing the site for new utility equipment including pads, manholes, and conduits;
5) Constructing a new electrical substation and integrating it with the existing 11.2kV distribution system.

The work must comply with Department of Veterans Affairs design manuals and technical specifications, as well as applicable codes. Various construction disciplines will be involved including civil engineering, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a specified timeframe starting from June 4, 2024.
