PACAF Corrosion Control Paint

Background
The Pacific Air Force (PACAF) is seeking anti-corrosion paint to prevent corrosion in corrosive environments including heat, humidity, and salt. This sources sought notice aims to identify potential sources capable of providing paint with the required protective capabilities.

Quantity: 900 gallons

Salient Characteristics:
- Closed cell, forms an impermeable barrier
- Hydrophobic and oleophobic; resists water, water vapor, and oil-based liquids
- Susceptible to standard lacquer thinners
- Accumulated contaminants wash off with rain or standard rinses
- Minimum 5 years of protection prior to deterioration

- Applicable by sprayer, roller, brush, or dipping
- Can be applied to soft or cloth materials without loss of integrity
- 700% elongation for thermal expansion, flexibility, and use on soft materials
- Tensile strength up to 1350 psi for abrasion and impact resistance

- Requires only soap and water surface cleaning; no intensive prep
- No primer required
- Water-based, non-hazardous, and non-combustible
- No special disposal; dries and disposes with regular trash
- At least 5-year shelf life and storable without temperature control

- Single-component, no special mixing; resealable and reusable partial containers
- Very low VOC emissions (<50 grams per use); no special ventilation or respirators needed
- Broad application conditions: up to 85% humidity and 55°F to 100°F
- Fast drying: dry to touch in <24 hours at 72°F and 50% humidity
