Overhaul of MTU Marine Diesel Engines Model 8V396 TE94 Used on the Coast Guard’s 87’ WPBs   3

Background
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) intends on awarding a Requirements type contract with firm-fixed-price (FFP) delivery orders for five (5), one (1) year ordering periods for the overhaul of Motoren-un Turbinen-Union (MTU) 8V396 TE94 series main diesel engine, in support of USCG 87’ Patrol Boats (WPBs). The need for this overhaul contract is based on the age of these engines and the number of operating hours accumulated through their life span. Contractors having a MTU distributor agreement will provide MTU certified technicians using manufacturer proprietary data to perform the diesel engine overhauls.

Work Details
Overhaul of MTU Marine Diesel Engines Model 8V396 TE94 Used on the Coast Guard’s 87’ WPBs. The solicitation is being issued as a request for proposal (RFP) and will be satisfied using Contracting by Negotiation. The work includes disassembling the engine, separating the transmission, returning it to SFLC, inspecting the engine, overhauling, testing, painting, preserving, packaging, commissioning, and warranty services.

Period of Performance
The contract shall be in effect for three years from date of award. Ordering periods are as follows: 12-Months from effective award date; 12-Months after the end of Ordering Period 1; 12-Months after the end of Ordering Period 2; 12-Months after the end of Ordering Period 3; 12-Months after the end of Ordering Period 5.

Place of Performance
The place of contract performance is at the contractor’s facility.
